Steve Crandell, Cleary Bros Transport Division Manager
Steve has worked for Cleary Bros for 30 years, the last 8 as Quarry & Transport Division Manager. Steve began working at 16 years of age as a labourer, he then moved through to earthmoving, he spent 12 years at Menai waste management centre as an operator, leading hand, foreman and then Site Manager of the site. He returned to Albion Park Quarry and was appointed as the Transport Division Manager; He then took over the role of the Quarry Divisional Manager.

Les Lipinski, Cleary Bros Transport Workshop Manager
Les completed his mechanic apprenticeship with Byrt Ford Wollongong and then commenced as a mechanic with Cleary Bros in 1984. Over the years Les progressed to Leading Hand, Foreman and the in the late 1990’s was promoted to his current position of Transport Workshop Manager. Les is qualified as a (light and heavy vehicle) mechanic, and holds a number of other licenses relevant to the operations including, Heavy Vehicle and Dangerous Goods. In recent years Les has upgraded his qualifications to include Cert IV in OHS & Diploma of Management. Les is responsible for a workforce of 27 employees. The fleet that Les is responsible for includes, 10 Tippers, 5 Side Tippers, 12 Trucks & Dogs. 3 x 6 Wheelers, 7 Fuel Trucks, 2 Dump Trucks, 25 Agitators, 70 Company vehicles, 2 Cranes and 4 Concrete Pumps.

Vic Walker
Worked for BHP Transport as an operator 27 years (1970 – 1997) the last 4 years as OHS Coordinator. He was Involved in training as shift trainer from 1994 till 1998, became accredited by Work Cover as an assessor in 1996. Vic won Safety award for designing and delivering site specific First Aid courses for BHP Transport. He holds Certificate IV in OHS and training and Assessing. Vic started Achieve Training 16 years ago (1997) as a sole trader. Achieve currently employs two permanent office staff, four trainers and two assessors as well as six on call training staff. Achieve delivers training for operators of Forklifts, EWP, Earthmoving Equipment, WHS, First Aid, Working at Heights. They recently conducted training and assessments in Northern Territory and are accredited to operate in WA.

Michelle Barratt
Michelle is the Rehabilitation Department Manager, for the IOH Wollongong. Michelle is Registered Psychologist and Senior Rehabilitation Consultant, under the NSW Workers Compensation, Comcare scheme and is also CTP accredited. Michelle has been working in the Illawarra since 2008, with injured workers from both small to the large companies in Australia. Michelle manages a team of 7 Workers Compensation case managers that includes Occupational Therapists, Occupational Hygienists, Rehabilitation Counselors and Psychologists.

IOH is a Wollongong based company and is a leader in the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of injured workers, with a team of just under 100 and 8 locations servicing an area between Newcastle to Bega and across to the Blue Mountains and Queanbeyan. IOH provides a range of training, medical, physiotherapy, psychology, rehabilitation, risk and safety services.

Dieter Schultejohann
Is a long standing Work Health and Safety professional. He currently works for South Eastern Sydney Local Health District as Senior WHS Officer providing safety management governance for 14,000+ workforce, 3,500 contractors and 1,700 volunteers.He has worked, audited, lectured and consulted in the field of health and safety across NSW since 1996. Dieter has developed and implemented Safety Management Systems for both government and private organisations. Dieter has redefined existing WHS procedures to better meet legislative requirements while simplifying frontline implementation. Dieter’s WHS procedures and systems have won awards at the local and state level and been acknowledged by the NSW Ministry of Health as best practice. Several of Dieter’s WHS procedures have been endorsed for State wide implementation by NSW Ministry of Health.

Ian Lancaster
Ian has worked in Steel Industry – BHP Port Kembla – 6 years, Underground Coalminer at Tahmoor 5 years and is currently a WorkCover Inspector (Assistant State Inspector) 19 years. Ian has an Electrical trade background and holds a Diploma in Injury and Illness Prevention and Management Dip IIPM) and is currently studying Masters in OHS at Wollongong University.
