The Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health Network (ISLHN) has issued a media release warning of the increase prevalence during Winter of gastroenteritis caused by the viral infection Norovirus.
It is advised to maintain good hand hygiene by washing hands thoroughly with soap and water for at least 10 seconds. Fruit and vegetables should also be washed prior to eating.
It is important to remember that people may remain infectious for some time after they have recovered from a bout of gastroenteritis. Thus good hand hygiene is even more important at this time.
